Roots Hoops Academy

Objective: Roots Hoops Academy, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, sought to create a website that would serve as a comprehensive platform for basketball athletes to join the academy, sign up for teams, and participate in regional competitions. The website needed to support multiple forms, team pages, and training options, reflecting the academy’s grassroots connection to the community.

Approach: To align the website with the academy’s grassroots identity, I designed the site with a focus on incorporating their logo and brand theme throughout. The goal was to create a site that not only captured the culture of basketball in the region but also emphasized the academy’s deep roots in the community. The design strategy was to ensure that the website was both functional and reflective of the academy’s mission and values.

Design Elements: The design maintained a natural, "grassroots" aesthetic that resonated with the academy's brand. The website was crafted to capture the local basketball culture while providing all the necessary tools and information for athletes and teams to succeed. The use of the academy's logo and branding elements was integral in creating a cohesive look that represented their community-focused approach.

User Experience (UX): The website was developed to allow athletes to easily sign up for teams, leagues, and training programs, while also facilitating efficient communication between the academy and its members. The user interface was designed to be straightforward and accessible, ensuring that all users, from athletes to parents, could navigate the site with ease and find the information they needed.

Technical Details: The website was built on Squarespace, chosen for its user-friendly interface and design flexibility. However, the platform presented some limitations in meeting the client’s specific needs, which required additional CSS custom coding to implement certain features. These customizations were essential in delivering the full functionality that Roots Hoops Academy required.

Results & Impact: Since its launch in 2016, the website has been a reliable and efficient platform for Roots Hoops Academy. It has successfully facilitated athlete sign-ups, team management, and communication, contributing to the academy’s growth and operational success. The client has been consistently satisfied with the platform’s performance and the website's ability to meet their needs.
